General Lighting Illuminates The Entire Room

Ambient or general lighting illuminates the entire room. Examples of ambient lighting are recessed, cove lighting, ceiling lighting, lighting valance, wall washers, sconces, surface mounted lights, pendant, track lights, ceiling lights, under-cabinet lights and portable devices.

Task lighting provides enough light to help you accomplish the task, like reading, cooking, shaving, etc. Examples of task lighting is the lighting of valence, pendant lights, under-cabinet lights and portable devices. Accent lighting is about three times as bright as the ambient lighting. Example of accent lighting are wall washers, sconces, track lights and lights at the office.

- Highlight a framed piece of art with halogen track lighting, or accompanied by a light image.
- Installation of general lighting such as recessed lighting or accent wall beautiful texture, but make sure that the lighting has a dimmer.
- Install individual lights placed as task lighting for cooking and sink areas.
- Put halogen lights hanging in bars and benches.
- Under-cabinet lights make excellent task lighting.
- If space is limited, you should recessed lights or pendant lights.
